Nu Prep 75 IS USEFUL FOR THE TREATMENT OF ANDROPAUSE BY
INCREASING FREE TESTOSTERONE LEVEL, DECREASING SHBG
LEVEL, AND INCREASING IGF-1 LEVEL:
Research Done At FRIM
Background: Nu Prep 75 is a standardized Eurycoma
Longifolia extract, containing 22% Eurypeptides, a
bioactive glyco protein that is now purported to have
androgenic properties. The present study is an
observational study to appreciate the effect of Nu Prep
75 (22% Bioactive Eurypeptides) of different
concentrations on men of varied ages and health status
with a placebo control, specifically looking into the
body vital functions, namely the blood profile, lipid
profile which includes triglycerides and cholesterol,
the liver function, the renal function, electrolytes,
various tumor markers, immune reaction and the various
hormones.
Method: 20 male volunteers of age ranges
from 38-58 were recruited and each at random were given
either 200,400,600 mg of Nu Prep 75 or placebo for 6
weeks. 20 ml of blood were taken from each of them for
the arrays of blood tests as baseline blood
investigations. Follow-up investigations that include
the two QOL Questionnaires as well as the blood tests
were done one week, three weeks and six weeks follow-up.
Results:
Volunteers on Nu Prep 75 showed improvement in SHIM
(Sexual Health Inventory for Male) and Aging Male Score
(AMS), indicating improvement in sexual, physical,
psychology, and vasomotor domain for majority of the
volunteers. Volunteers on Nu Prep 75 also show increase
in DHEA levels, decrease in SHBG level, and increase in
free testosterone level. Liver function, renal function,
and all tumor markers were within normal levels even at
600mg dosage of Nu Prep 75. The lipid studies showed
increment of high-density lipoprotein (HDL Cholesterol
–good cholesterol) levels. Diabetic volunteers showed an
improved level of blood glucose levels. The cortisol
levels were in the higher than normal level for the Nu
Prep 75 group suggests that Nu Prep 75 modulates the
release of cortisol. The majority of volunteers on Nu
Prep 75 have higher than normal levels of thyroxine
compared to the placebo group, indicating higher
metabolism rate which can be translated to weight
management. Volunteers taking the Nu Prep 75 had higher
than normal levels of IGF-1 at the end of the trials.
This study suggests that Nu Prep 75 has a secretagogue
effect on growth hormone and modulates the release of
IGF-1
Conclusion:
Based on this observational study, Nu Prep 75 (22%
Bioactive Eurypeptides) has shown potential in treating
andropause by providing sufficient free testosterone to
the body, decreasing SHBG level, and increasing IGF-1
level.
